A Divine Journey: The Assumption Academy Boys’ School

Hello, and welcome to Our Lady of the Assumption Priory Chapel. My name is Father Stephen Sheehan, and I’ve been a priest for two years, stationed here since my ordination in 2022. Today, I’m excited to show you around this sacred space that holds a special place in the hearts of our community.

As we step into the main chapel, the presence of our patroness, Our Lady herself, is palpable. Flanking her are the statues of the Holy Apostles, Peter and Paul, and the four evangelists. To the left, we have an altar dedicated to Saint Joseph, the universal patron of the church. On the right, we find a side altar dedicated to Saint Elizabeth.

Saint Joseph, the carpenter, holds a blooming rod symbolizing Aaron’s priesthood, a reminder of his role as the protector of the church and the guardian of Our Lady. Saint Elizabeth, our second side altar, was a gift from a church in Cincinnati, a testament to God’s providence and the beauty of his divine plan.

“This chapel is not just a place of worship but also a classroom where the boys learn the beauty of the liturgy and the importance of their faith..”

Fr. Stephen Sheehan

The chapel is adorned with glass windows depicting scenes from the joyful mysteries and other moments before the birth of our Lord. Saint Joseph is prominently featured, serving as a model for the young boys of the Assumption Academy Boys’ School. This chapel is not just a place of worship but also a classroom where the boys learn the beauty of the liturgy and the importance of their faith.

Throughout the school year, the boys spend countless hours in the chapel, attending mass, singing chants, serving, and participating in liturgical ceremonies. With its rich history and sacred art, the chapel serves as a source of nourishment for these young boys, guiding them on their journey to becoming Catholic men like Saint Joseph.

As we continue to grow and nurture the faith of our young boys, we invite you to join us on this divine journey. Your support and generosity will help us provide a strong foundation for the next generation of Catholic leaders. Together, let us continue to build a community rooted in faith, love, and service.

I appreciate your support. May God bless you abundantly.

Sincerely,

Father Stephen Sheehan
